Abstract:A coumarin amide-pyrene derivative 1 as fluorescence probe for hypochlorite ions (ClO− ) was developed. The UV–vis absorption and fluorescent properties of the compound in various microenvironment including different solvents and solid state were discussed. The compound has obvious yellow fluorescence in powder state, poor solvent H2O and weak fluorescence in good solvent solution. The weak fluorescence may be derived from weak intramolecular charge transfer process. The compound could specifically recognize ClO− ) in aqueous solution with high selectivity and anti-interference. The sensing mechanism is that amide bond is hydrolyzed by ClO− to give 1-amino pyrene with bright blue fluorescence. The probe also can detect ClO− in 84 liquid disinfectant and actual water samples.
